Our Online Store is Now Open
After a hiatus during this year’s Kickstarter campaign, we’re excited to announce that our online store is now open for business: openbookchocolates.com/shop. It’s the perfect time to order gifts for the upcoming winter holidays!
Frankenstein
How did you celebrate Halloween this year? Here at Open Book Chocolate, we celebrated by watching Guillermo del Toro’s new Frankenstein film at our local movie theater. We’re big del Toro fans, including Pan’s Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, and Nightmare Alley to name a few. We’re also fans of the film’s Victor Frankenstein and his creature — Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi. So we’ve been highly anticipating this movie! It was so much fun watching this Frankenstein’s beautiful costumes, sets, and cinematography on the big screen. We even brought a bar of our own Frankenstein (Raspberries and Icelandic Lava Salt in Dark Chocolate with Milk) with us to the theater!
Kickstarter Rewards
Here at Open Book Chocolates, we’ve been very busy putting together our Kickstarter backers’ rewards in preparation for shipping. This past Monday, we stuffed our chocolate-mobile full of packages and dropped them all off at our local post office. That was over 150 packages in my little car!
New Pins
Our brand-new, full-color, “Read Books, Eat Chocolates” wooden pins are now available on our online store, as well as at in-person events. Photos coming soon!
Jane Austen Society of North America
We spent October 9th through 11th selling our wares at the Merchandise Emporium of the Jane Austen Society of North America’s Annual General Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.
There was a very literary atmosphere all around — with Edgar Allan Poe’s grave and house museum just a 10-minute drive away and the James Joyce Irish Pub & Restaurant just steps away from the event.
We truly enjoyed chatting with all the wonderful Janeites from all over the country and world. And we loved seeing everyone’s amazing Regency-period outfits — very impressive!

Berlin Book Festival
We spent Saturday, October 18th selling our wares at the Berlin Book Festival on the yard of the Calvin B. Taylor House Museum. Berlin is such a cute, little, funky town just about 20 minutes or so from Ocean City. I’ve visited Berlin once before, so I was thrilled to visit again. It was our first time bringing Open Book Chocolates to that part of Maryland, and I’m thrilled to have introduced our literary-inspired bars to book festival attendees.
