A Little Restock! 📖🍫💖
Hey there,
I just wanted to give everyone another update!
This past Sunday, fellow Marylander and fashion queen Maggie Weber (RefashionedHippie) posted a video review of a few chocolate bars we sent her via snail mail. As of now, the video has over 190K views on Facebook. Since then, we’ve received approximately 300 orders on our online store (selling out of what inventory we had on our online store), and countless emails/messages. We are overwhelmed, but incredibly thrilled and grateful for all your orders, support, and enthusiasm!

We have just added a few more chocolate bars to our online store! 🥳
Our inventory is a balancing act! We have seven in-person events lined up from April through August, including BookCon in New York City. Furthermore, we have wholesale customers (i. e. independent bookstores and gift shops across the U.S.) who stock our chocolate bars in their stores. So we have to be careful to allocate enough chocolate bars for our online store, in-person events, and wholesale customers.
This past Tuesday, we took a detailed inventory of all the chocolate bars we have in stock. This was a complex process, in part because chocolate bars that have already sold are still in our inventory. As we start to fulfill orders, we pull chocolate bars from our inventory. Having taken this inventory, we have figured out how many more bars to add to our online store. Those bars are now restocked, so please visit our online store to place your order. Please note, this is a somewhat small restock, so flavors will probably sell out again.
FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions
When do you restock your chocolate bar flavors? Throughout the year, we are always producing new batches of our chocolate bars. We have new batches of a selection of flavors approximately every month. We will do our best to continue to restock our online store as the year progresses. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
Do you ship during warm/hot weather? For warm/hot weather, we include a complimentary ice pack as well as insulated bubble wrap in your order. We typically send out chocolate bars towards the beginning of the week (Monday through Wednesday) so they won't sit at the post office over the weekend and melt. We are always monitoring the weather to make sure we take precautions against melting chocolate.
Do you ship internationally? We can ship internationally, but the shipping cost (and potential tariffs) to our customers abroad is always very expensive. Also, with the weather warming up, it might not reach its destination fast enough without melting. If you’d still like to place an order, please email me (openbookchocolates@email.com) with the number of bars you’re interested in. Then we can send you a shipping cost estimate.
What about food allergies? We use dedicated equipment for flavors with nuts. All our chocolate bars are gluten free and soy free. Our dark chocolate is dairy free. All our chocolate bars are made at River-Sea Chocolates, so please check out their "Allergins & Food Sensitivities" info here: riverseachocolates.com/terms-conditions.
Is your chocolate fair trade? Yes, our chocolate is fair trade. River-Sea Chocolates purchases all cacao for us, paying the farmers above fair trade prices. For more information, please visit riverseachocolates.com/terms-conditions.
Do you sell wholesale? Yes, we do! Please send us an email introducing your store (openbookchocolates.com/wholesale) and I’ll be happy to respond with our wholesale information.
Thank you again for all your support!
See you next time!
Best regards,
Geri
